“Portugal will continue its contribution in strengthening and building the Kosovo army through NATO, with trainings and donations.” This is what the Defense Minister of Portugal Nuno Severiano Teixeira said after meeting with the Kosovo Security Force Minister Fehmi Mujota on Thursday.
Portugal’s Minister of Defense Nuno Severiano Teixeria, currently visiting in  Kosovo, was welcomed by President Fatmir Sejdiu and KSF Minister Fehmi Mujota. Sejdiu highly valued the contribution of Portugal in Kosovo, and thanked Portugal for the help it has given to Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese Minister talked about the importance a democratic security force has for the security and stability of a country. Stressing the role Portugal will play in the formation of the Kosovo Security Force, Minister Teixeira said “Portugal will be committed through its troops in KFOR to help the formation of the Kosovo Security Force, not only with its participation in battalions, but also with financial means. Portugal is seriously thinking about donations for the Kosovo Security Force.”

This is the first visit of the Portuguese Defense Minister in Kosovo. Portugal recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country on October 7.
