As the Republic of Kosovo became the newest member of the The International Road Transport Union, the international organization awarded the CPC Manager Accreditation Certificate to the Kosova Chamber of Commerce (OEK).

Chairman of the Kosova Chamber of Commerce, Besim Beqaj, stressed that Kosovo  actually became full member of International Road Transport Union since January of this year, although it was admitted into this organization in July July 29, 2008 last year.

At the occasion Chariman Beqaj, emphasized that so far the authorized and certified training by the IRU at OEK has been completed by 7 groups with 192 candidates, all granted with internationally recognized certificates in the area of domestic and international transport of goods and passengers.

The IRU Academy today awarded the CPC Manager Accreditation Certificate to the Kosova Chamber of Commerce (OEK) during a ceremony attended by high-level officials including the Minister of Transport and Communications, Fatmir Limaj, as well as OEK members and transport operators.

Minister Limaj added that this day marks an important step for OEK, and also for Kosovo. He stated that the work and commitment has justified the confidence and authority which the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications has given.

Limaj Minister stressed that in addition to investment in road infrastructure, the Republic of Kosovo Government is interested and supports the training and certification to managers of the international transport, which opens the way for carriers to Kosovo to engage in the international transport passengers and goods.

With this new Member association in Kosovo, the IRU’s global network now spans 74 countries. Kosova Chamber of Commerce is the first professional training institute in Kosovo to receive IRU Academy accreditation and international recognition to train road transport managers in full compliance with IRU Academy’s high-quality standards and deliver IRU Academy diplomas to successful candidates.

The International Road and Transport Union (IRU), founded in Geneva on 23 of March 1948, is the international organisation which upholds the interests of the road transport industry worldwide.
